September Hunt
|
|
September 8th found us at Johnson Park, Walker, MI for the second to last hunt of the summer. Can you believe it?
It appears that this park has been hunted before because the metallic items were being stingy on surfacing. There was
only one find that was entered into the voting realm!
Find of the Hunt was won by Tom Baldwin with a 1944 wheat penny. This was the only entry and was deemed valid by a
hand vote. Tom gained an 1864 2-cent piece for his efforts. Congrats to Tom! The Find of the Month results are on page three.
A small discussion took place following the contests. One item was to confirm that there was one more hunt for the
summer, which is scheduled to be held at John Ball Park (For more details see page three).
For the second issue John Chirco brought in an e-mail with an update on the state laws regarding metal detecting in
state parks. This topic demands a whole article for itself so please see "Metal Detecting in Michigan State Parks" below for more detailed information.
The next hunt is the last one of the calendar year for the club. The winter meetings will resume at the same location as
last year. More details in next month's newsletter. |
